This past year of isolation and exclusion from friends and family was a difficult time for all, and more so for some. During this time, organizations like OUTMaine and EqualityMaine, were able to provide members with virtual meetups and weekly chats in lieu of in-person events.

Virtual meetups and online chats provide a friendly space for members across the state, allowing those in more rural areas to participate more often than they would have with in-person events.

With in-home learning, youth and families were able to connect with friends across the state with OUT Maine’s online youth meetups like Youth and Teen Groups, and Emerging Leaders program.

EqualityMaine launched The Queer Network in March 2020 - a program for young adults in their 20's and 30's providing workshops and social events and fostering positive workplace connections.

SAGE Maine (now part of EqualityMaine) is a powerful member-driven group with several new online meetup spaces available for older adults, as well as connecting intergenerationally to provide mentorship and support.

Although plans are in the works for several in-person events this year, online meetups and virtual groups will still be available for youth and families, young adults, and older adults - visit OUT Maine and EqualityMaine for more info on the various groups and member benefits available.

As we get back to a post-pandemic type of normal, we hope to remember that we really are all in this together. ❤️
